Ammolite comes in all shades of the color spectrum but this Purple/Blue show is very rare.
This is a larger ammolite cabochon at 33x25mm.It was collected in the rough on the banks of the St Mary river in Southwest Alberta Canada by a member of the Blood tribe on whose lands much ammolite is found. It was sold on to one of Albertas most experienced ammolite finishers who coaxed out the beautiful ammolite gem you see before you.
This gem has beautifully finished edges and a mirror smooth surface.
Purple Blue is one of ammolite's rarest colors. The presentation of this gem is subtle and soothing. This is a true one of a kind ammolite as no other exists just like it anywhere.
A superb one of a kind gift for a loved one or simply a treat for yourself.
Not likely any one in your circle will have anything like this or even be able to identify the gem--Ammolite is that rare---many have yet to see it! It is often seen as cruise ship jewelry at astonishingly high prices especially on the Caribbean,Mexico and Alaskan runs.
Canadian Ammolite from Alberta in good quality is one of the rarest gems in the world. It has been compared favourably for its brilliant colors with black opal from Australia--and at a far more reasonable price point too.
It is found only in one small area in Alberta Canada and is widely recognized as the most colorful of Canadian gemstones.
Only a small percentage is top gem quality. No other useful deposits of gem grade ammolite is known to exist—so when supplies are exhausted there will be no more—which is why demand and prices are increasing—in fact they have doubled in the last five years for top quality ammolites and show no signs of slowing down.
Each ammolite gemstone is like a finger print. As unique as its owner. They often come with marks of 80 million years underground in the way of stress fissures in the gem material which simply add to their uniqueness.
Ammolite Triplet:
As ammolite is a soft organic substance that exists as a very thin gem deposit on stone it is necessary to protect it for use in jewelry. This is a labour extensive process done properly only by experts.
Edward Kui Ming Li, prominent Feng Shui Master calls Ammolite 'The Most Influential Stone of the Millennium'.
Practitioners of the ancient practice of Feng Shui call ammolite the “Seven Color Prosperity Stone” and the most important stone discovered in centuries. They believe that health and prosperity are transferred from ammolite to its owner/wearer. Ammmolite Feng Shui is believed to be especially beneficial.
Native peoples have called it “Iniskim” or the “Buffalo Stone” for its believed ability to point the hunter to the buffalo herd.
Our advantage:
I have had the good fortune to have lived for years in South Alberta near Lethbridge where top grade ammolite is mined and am able to hand select the very best stones right off the cutter/miners tables. This is why the quality of gems offered in this shop are consistently among the best available anywhere.
A free plated chain is included with each pendant for presentation purposes only as most people like to select their own style of chain.
