This gorgeous ammolite natural cabochon gemstone measures 25x28mm.

It was hand colected by a member of the Blood Tribe in South Alberta,ground zero for the best quality ammolite in the world.It was sold on to one of the best cutter/finishers in the business who produced this mirror faced gem by no other means than careful polishing.The edges are perfectly cut for setting.

The is absolutely no epoxy or other material on the surface of this gem--it is totally natural.

The colour is a deep rich cherry red--I tend to prefer that to the more common orange red found in ammolite and to make it really interesting is that sprinkling of green gold around the edge that shimmer much like a high quality opal.

A note about my listing images.

 All my images are taken under professional OTT daylight corrected bulbs in order to accurately show un retouched colours.Viewing these ammolites under different light sources will result in different colours--all still beautiful--but different.

GRADING—Just so you know.

The ammolite industry has yet to fix on a uniform grading system however the following is accepted until it is.

Grade AA….Three or more colours.Bright.

Grade A+….Two colours—Bright.

Grade A …..One colour— Bright.

Grade A- …. Dull.Very dark

The top three grades is all we use… it makes lovely high quality jewelry,the last grade does not.We don’t use it.

A very large amount of ammolite of the low A- grade is being bought up by Asian interests,set in cheap plated settings and sold as fine ammolite jewelry.Caveat Emptor.
